Working at USS

Our low staff turnover speaks for itself.  With 160 staff in our Liverpool Head Office and 60 staff in our London office, we promote a professional and friendly workplace where new starters are made to feel welcome from day one.

Good communication between staff, supervisors and managers is encouraged, and staff are encouraged to think about and suggest ways of improving what we do.

We want our staff to be content, motivated, hard-working, fulfilled, well-trained, work to their potential, have suitable opportunities for development and work together towards the company’s objectives and goals.

Equal opportunities

Universities Superannuation Scheme Ltd is committed to the fair treatment of all its staff, office holders and applicants for positions in the company.  We strive to ensure that no individual or group is treated more or less favourably than others on grounds of ethnic origin, nationality, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, marital status or other inappropriate grounds.

Training & development

The company thinks of its staff as an important asset and believes that it should invest in its people.

Here at USS we firmly believe that all staff should possess the skills necessary to be effective in their roles and develop to the best of their ability.

We realise the importance of people and value their contribution. Our vision therefore is simple: we want to recruit the best possible people and actively nurture and develop their talents.

Induction is the first element and our Training team make sure that all newly appointed staff are provided with the best possible system and developmental training so that they are truly effective in their job.

Our Induction process is all about training and support. Organisational performance depends on people understanding the culture, strategy and history of the organisation so that they can deliver and meet the objectives required.

You will be given regular feedback and advice in an environment where you are encouraged to ask for help from your colleagues.

Throughout your career with USS you will continue to receive support as needed and any relevant training or study will be fully supported.

All our Pensions Administrators are supported through the DPC (Diploma in Pension Calculations) with guidance from the Training team and staff in other areas are encouraged and supported to undertake relevant further education training.
