Final Salary Scheme

USS is a final salary pension scheme, meaning that benefits are calculated using your service and your salary close to retirement.

Low cost

Members pay 6.35% of salary into the scheme, but after tax relief and a reduction in NI, the cost is substantially less. Your employer pays the bulk of the cost of providing the benefits, currently 16% of salaries.

Protection for you and your dependants

Every member is covered for 3x annual salary life assurance, and incapacity cover is also included.

Flexibility

Flexibility if you change employer or leave USS. Flexibility to save more towards your pension through USS or through Prudential.
