Deferred pension increase modeller

If you have previously paid into USS, the 'deferred pension increase modeller' can be used in conjunction with the statement you received when you left, or a statement you may have received from USS since leaving the scheme. It allows you to calculate the value of your deferred pension at today's date, and to estimate the value at age 65 using an assumed rate of inflation of your choice.

How to use the modeller

You will need either:

  1. the statement you received on leaving USS or;
  2. a quotation you may have received from USS since leaving the scheme.

When you first open the modeller you will be asked to select which of these options applies to you and will then be presented with an input screen.

The fields shaded in blue are required fields.

The estimated benefits at age 65 are calculated using an annual pension increase selected by you. Click and drag the slider to see the effect of varying this increase.

Please note the following:

  • Any benefits shown which have been projected to age 65 are estimated and have been calculated using an assumed rate of inflation. Any benefits payable will be increased up to retirement in line with the published pension increases which have been awarded by USS.
  • This modeller is intended for illustrative purposes only. It should not be used for financial planning for retirement purposes. If you would like specific guidance, please speak to the pension contact at your institution
  • If you choose to retire earlier than age 65 your benefits may be reduced. This modeller will not provide you with any figures other than those at age 65, if you require a quotation at any other age please write to USS.
