Employer feedback

Information For information

There were some common themes raised in your feedback, here are some of the steps that we’ve already taken to make administering USS easier for you.

Member communications

  • The majority of case specific correspondence is sent directly to the member (unless you ask us not to).
  • Dummy copies of bulk member communications are sent to employers and/or are available from the employer portal so you can see what we’re sending to members.
  • For our biggest mailing, the annual member statements, you can choose what employer contact information you want printed on the statements to assist members who need to contact you with queries, for example if you’d rather have a team email than your pension contact’s telephone number.   • For bulk mailings, employers are invited to provide an employer reference file with information we will print on the envelopes to assist in distribution, for example a departmental address. Where there’s no employer reference, we use a unique reference number and share this information via the employer portal to help you identify the member. Interfaces and contribution payments

  • All employers have a named contact on the Client Engagement team to provide direct support.
  • Examples of how to complete the interfaces are available from the employer portal STU upload page.
  • Interface training is available free for all USS employers. Visit the training pages of the employer portal for more information.
  • A new contribution payments page on the employer portal explains the post contributions interface process, including adjustments.

Information for members

Employer portal

  • You can run a range of reports from the Run a report page.
  • Use the contact us page to send us information securely. If you have a file or form for a specific member send it from their record in member search and it’ll be loaded directly to their record and start a process for us, it’s much faster than posting or using other secure methods.
