The Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) is a body established under the rules and has a vital role in the running of USS. The trustee establishes the contribution rate required for a particular level of benefits. The JNC is responsible for considering how any change in the rate is to be applied.

Unlike publicly listed assets, where values are obtained from quoted traded prices, private assets are valued by experts using a range of different data points and techniques to form a view of fair value.
