Gary became a Director of Universities Superannuation Scheme Limited in 2019. Gary is the Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Remuneration Committee.
Gary is the Chair of Council at the University of Leicester, having served as a Lay Member of Council since 2009. Within this role he chairs the Remuneration and Nominations Committees and also chairs the University’s Stakeholder Pension Scheme. Gary is also a non-executive director of the Church of England’s Investment Trustee company, CBF Funds Trustee Limited.
Gary was part of the banking and pensions focused financial services group, Pointon York, where he was subsequently appointed Group CFO. He formed the Compliance Solutions group which provided regulatory consultancy and risk advisory services to regulated firms. Following the sale of this group to a global plc, Gary took on Non-Executive Director roles at a number of regulated firms such as Melton Mowbray Building Society, Guarantee Protection Insurance Ltd and Embark Group Ltd, amongst others.
Gary trained as a Chartered Accountant with PwC after graduating in 1987 from the University of Leicester in Physics with Astrophysics. He’s a Fellow of the ICAEW and also holds an MBA from Warwick Business School.
