If you were a USS member before 2016, you would’ve built your benefits in a different way to how you do now with the Retirement Income Builder and the Investment Builder. And if you left USS and later re-joined, you may have built up a mixture of benefits.

Everyone in USS is deeply saddened to learn that Dave Guppy, a UCU appointee to the USS board, died suddenly on Tuesday 3 December. He served the scheme for two periods as trustee, and contributed hugely to the board and to USS. We extend our sincere condolences to his partner Aine and his family. Professor Sir David Eastwood, Dr Steve Wharton and Bill Galvin opened this year’s USS Institutions' Meeting by paying tribute to Dave Guppy.

Our valuation for 2020 will be based on a 'snapshot' of the Scheme on 31 March 2020. However, the process itself will run well into 2021. By law, we must complete it within 15 months - so by 30 June 2021. There are a number of milestones we need to reach on the way, set out in this timeline.
