David Watts, a social scientist and historian, joined the Board on 1 March 2021 as a UCU appointed director. David is a member of the Pensions Committee and Governance and Nominations Committee.
David has worked for the University of Aberdeen since 2007, first in the School of Geosciences and since early 2018 in the Rowett Institute.
He has been a local pensions representative for the University and College Union (UCU) since 2015 and, in 2017, was elected as the first academic trade union nominee to the Court (the University of Aberdeen’s governing body). David was a Trustee of the University from 2017 to 2020 and served on its Policy and Resources Committee.
