Tony Owens joins USS Investment Management board

USS is pleased to announce that Tony Owens joined the USS Investment Management board as a non-executive director, with effect from 27 October 2015.

The USS Investment Management board now comprises five non-executive and three executive directors after changes over the past year with Clive Brown stepping down, Chris Rowlands and then more recently Tony Owens joining as non-executive directors and Mike Powell, head of Private Markets, joining as an executive director.

The board has assembled complementary experience and expertise to provide effective oversight and assurance across the breadth of the investment management, operations and control functions.

Roger Gray, Chief Executive, USS Investment Management, said:
“Tony brings extensive experience of investment operations, strategy, planning and corporate financial management to the board. Along with his fellow non-executive directors, Tony will help deliver independent, expert oversight for the broad range of activities undertaken by USS Investment Management. The board ensures that best practices are upheld within the internal investment manager to support the trustee’s objectives.”

Tony Owens said:
“I am delighted to join the USS Investment Management board as non-executive director. This is a time of great opportunity for the scheme and I look forward to working with the board to help shape the future of USS Investment Management’s unique proposition and to ensure USS continues to provide a high quality and cost-effective pension scheme for members.”
